Yes, if there is no Deposition and Slagging, ACT can be stopped. However, we recommend continuous operation with reduced dosage as long as soot blowing of the Boiler is done.

7.  Can AMTEK CHEMICAL TREATMENT reduce UBC?

Yes, another Chemical has to be dosed continuously for reducing UBC.

8.  Where in the Furnace is the ACT Chemical injected?

The locations, quantity and direction of chemical injection are determined by experience and CFD Modeling of the Boiler.

9.  What is CFD Modeling?

Normally, "Experience" decides the Number and Location of Chemical Injectors but sometimes Computer programs are used to analyze the design of Combustion System and Combustion of various Fuels. CFD Modeling of Combustion process and Furnace behavior is determined by feeding all Boiler, Combustion, Fuel and Ash characteristics into a Computer utilizing CFD Modeling Program.

The Modeling results indicate the Temperature Profile, Pressure Profile, Flue Gas Pathways and possible areas of Slagging and Fouling.

10. How does CFD Modeling help ACT Implementation?

CFD Modeling helps in determining the number of places, quantity and direction of Chemical Injection. CFD Modeling also helps in determining the strategy of Chemical Injection.

11. Is Soot Blowing Required to Remove the Deposits?

Yes, ACT creates cleavage planes (intermittent dosing) in deposits and changes the morphology of the deposits so they are easily removed by Soot Blowing.

12. What are the Advantages of AMTEK CHEMICAL TREATMENT?

Following are the Advantages of ACT Process:
  • ACT modifies the Slag and Deposits making them friable and easily removable by Soot Blowing.
  • Effectiveness of Soot Blowing is improved.
  • Boiler Evaporator, Superheater, Economizer and Air Heater are kept clean.
  • Thus, overall, ACT improves heat transfer in the furnace and reduces Exit Flue Gas Temperature.
  • Heat Rate improves, Boiler Efficiency is thus improved.
  • Fuel Consumption reduces.
  • ACT allows combustion of any type of Fuel or Blend, thus, Fuel Flexibility is 100%.
  • ACT reduces De-rating of the Boiler.

13. What are the Performance Parameters for AMTEK CHEMICAL TREATMENT?

  • Cleanliness of the Boiler.
  • Reduction in Heat Rate and Increase in Power Generation.
  • Total Fuel Flexibility.

14. What is the Equipment used for ACT?

The ACT System for Fouling and Slagging Control consists of the following:
  • Chemical Storage Tank
  • Chemical Unloading & Circulation Pump Unit
  • High Pressure Dosing Pumps
  • Water Pumping Unit (Optional)
  • Pump Controls
  • Distribution Manifolds and Valves
  • Injectors
  • Injector Mountings

15. What is the Capital Cost of Equipment?

No Capital Cost is incurred by the Customer. The Dosing Equipment is supplied free of cost. The Dosing Equipment remains the property of AMTEK RESEARCH.

17. What is the Material of Construction of the Chemical Storage Tank?

Fiberglass or HDPE.

18. Where are the Injectors installed?

During Performance proving the Injectors are installed in the Peep Holes on suitable Adapter Plates. Afterwards, dedicated openings or Adapters may be required for installing the Injectors.

19. Do Injectors interfere with Boiler maintenance and movement around?

No.

20. Who installs runs and maintains the Equipment? Who Supplies the Spares?

AMTEK Personnel do all the work at no cost to customer. Normally, 3 persons for each Power Plant of 200 ~ 500 MW are required for operation and maintenance.

21. How much time does it take to withdraw and clean the Injectors?

5 Minutes

22. What is the Cost of AMTEK CHEMICAL TREATMENT to Customer?

The Customer pays only for the Chemical used.

23. How do you calculate the Benefits of ACT Program?

  • Thermography is used for observing the Firesides.
  • For calculating the Heat Rate and Additional Power Generation, we rely on the Customer's Data.
  • Fuel Data is recorded for proving Fuel Flexibility.

24. What is the Return-On-Investment (ROI)?

Please note that ACT is not a Capital Investment Proposal. It is a Revenue Generating Proposal. Cost is incurred on Consumable Chemicals only.

Thus,
Benefits due to reduction in Heat Rate > Cost of Chemical consumed,
Hence, ROI > 1

25. Are there any hidden costs in the Proposal?
